Welcome to ActionDiesel PodCast Central!!
One more benefit to ActionDiesel is not only having their own ActionDiesel
web sites, but also their own PodCast web sites! Members can create their
own 'PodCast' audio files, and upload them to the system where they are processed,
and added to an automated RSS Feed making their PodCast instantly available to
interested listeners on the internet around the world that have subscribed to their RSS Feed.
What is a 'PodCast'?
Simply speaking, a PodCast is nothing more than a recorded audio file that the
user records on their computer and uploads to the internet. The file can be as
simple as a recording made from their built-in Sound Recorder on most computer
systems.
When the file is uploaded, it is processed (changed to the standard .mp3 format if
a .wav file is uploaded), saved on the system, and an entry into the PodCast RSS
(Really Simple Syndication) system is made. This makes the PodCast instantly
available to anyone around the world subscribing to the RSS Feed. Users can then
download the PodCast and play it at their leisure on their computer, cell phone or
mp3 player device.
How do I make a PodCast? What do I need?
All you really need is your computer and a microphone. Most computers come with
a built-in Sound Recorder program that can record your PodCast file. While some
computers come with a built-in microphone, we recommend that you use a 'better'
microphone, probably a headset with a 'boom' microphone is best for recording and
keeping out background noise. Personally, I'm cheap, and want to kill 2 birds
with one stone... I recommend the headset/microphone from Skype's merchandise
area because it is certified for Skype, and will make great PodCast recordings
too. It's about $20.
Once you have your computer and a good microphone, just record your audio file
and save it to your hard disk. Then, log into ActionDiesel and click on
the Upload Podcast item, and follow the prompts to upload and describe your file;
the system will do the rest. In seconds your PodCast will be on the RSS Feed
(as well as posted both on your 'standard' ActionDiesel page, as well as your
new PodCast.ActionDiesel.com page.
BONUS! Are you doing a daily podcast? Does it
have general interest to racers? Let us know. We'll be taking the best and
